1).
Who can register for a .ASIA domain name?
Anyone (person or entity) can be a registrant of a .Asia domain name in condition where registrant must meet the Charter Eligibility Requirement. At least one of the Domain Contacts associated with the Domain Name (Registrant, Admin, Billing or Technical) must be a legal entity in the DotAsia Community (Based on the ICANN Asia/Australia/Pacific Region described by 73 ccTLDs; http://www.icann.org/montreal/geo-regions-topic.htm).

What is the length for .ASIA domain name?
Minimum of 3 / maximum of 63 characters allowed.

 

3.) What are the special registration requirements/restrictions for .ASIA domain name?
Special requirements/restrictions are as below:
a) Must meet the Charter Eligibility Requirement
b) In order to satisfy the Charter Eligibility Requirement, at least one of the Domain Contacts associated with the Domain Name (Registrant, Admin, Billing or Technical) must be a legal entity in the DotAsia Community (within the localities described by the ICANN Asia/Australia/ Pacific (AP) Region; http://www.icann.org/montreal/geo-regions-topic.htm)
c) Accented characters such as Ö, è , Ø and etc. will not be allow for text fields (contact name, street or city)

Common registration requirements are below:

- Domain names can only contain characters from A to Z, 0 - 9;
- Domain names may contain "hyphen/-" but may not begin or end with a hyphen;
- Spaces and special characters, such as question marks (?), exclamation points (!), and underscores (_) are never permitted;
- All domains must have at least 2 name servers and IPs listed at all times
- Domain name can not have hyphens as the 3rd and 4th characters (reserved for multilingual domain registration)

What is Charter Eligibility Declaration Contact (CED Contact)?
Charter Eligibility Requirement is the basic requirement to register a .ASIA domain name, at least one of the domain contact must be a legal entity in the DotAsia Community.

- The CED Contact is not an additional contact;
- The CED Contact is legal entity designated to make the Charter Eligibility Declaration;
- The legal entity may be a natural person or a juristic entity (such as corporation, partnership, public sector entities) in the DotAsia Community (within the localities described by the ICANN Asia/Australia/ Pacific (AP) Region; http://www.icann.org/montreal/geo-regions-topic.htm)
- The registrant must specify which contact to be listed as the CED Contact;
- Additional information must also be provided, these included:
. Locality of the claimed Legal Entity status
. Type of Legal Entity
. Form of Identification
. Identification Number / Code of Reference

What is the responsibility of the Charter Eligibility Declaration Contact (CED Contact)?
In the case where the CED contact is not the registrant, the CED contact and registrant will be jointly accountable for the domain registration, responsible for responding to dispute resolution proceedings and jointly be defined as the Registered Name Holder. Nevertheless, the Registrant (Registrant Contact) will remain the "operating contact" for a domain, including for domain transfers and the reappointment of a CED Contact for a domain.

What is the term of registration and renewal?
The term of registration during Sunrise and Landrush is 2-10 years while the term of registration and renewal is 1-10 years starting from Go Live.

Where can I register my .ASIA domain name?
We are now running for the .ASIA Pioneer Domains Program, Sunrise phases and Landrush pre-registration. Should you have any inquiry on the Pioneer Domains Program, please contact sales@webnic.cc for more details and further assistance.

Meanwhile, we are accepting your Sunrise and Landrush pre-registration application; partners may submit the application via partner central on September 10, 2007.

What is the renewal grace period for .ASIA domain name and how do I perform a domain renewal?
The .ASIA renewal grace period is 40 days. Partner may renew the domain by follow steps below:-
- Login to your Partner Central at http://www.webnic.cc;
- Click on Quick Start Registration;
- Under Renewal section, click on the extension that you want to renew;
- Enter your domain name and follow the steps to renew your domain name

Can I delete a renewal term?
No. a renewal term is not allowed to delete.

Any Redemption Grace Period (RGP) for .ASIA domain name?
YES, RGP for a .ASIA domain name is 30 days.

 

11).
How long does it takes for a domain to release to public registration after expired and not renew?
After expired. 40 days will be given to renew the domain name. If domain name did not renew, another 30 days Redemption Grace Period will be given. After Redemption Grace Period the domain will be released to public for re-registration later on.

 

12).
Can I initiate a registrar transfer for .ASIA domain name and how do I initiate the transfer?
No, due to registrar transfer function for .ASIA has yet launch. We will notify partners once this function is ready.

Can I initiate a reseller transfer for .ASIA domain name and how do I initiate the transfer?

What is Pioneer Domains Program?
The Pioneer Domains Program is intended to encourage active and positive usage, as well as the development of relevant and robust content for .ASIA domain names. Applicants are required to submit a proposal for the domain(s) of interest.

What is the objective for Pioneer Domains Program?
The objective of this program is to immediately create active and relevant content on .ASIA domains for the benefit of Internet users around the world.

.ASIA Sunrise Registration FAQs
1) What is Sunrise Registration Period?
Sunrise is the priority registration period for companies and government bodies with prior established rights to register their .Asia domain names.
 
 
2) What are the .ASIA Sunrise Process and how many phases and sub-phases under .ASIA Sunrise?
The .Asia Sunrise Process is divided into 3 main phases:
Sunrise 1 (SR1): Governmental Reserved Names
Sunrise 2 (SR2): Registered Marks (e.g. trademarks and service marks)
Sunrise 2a (SR2a) : Early Bird Sunrise
Sunrise 2b (SR2b) : General Registered Marks
Sunrise 2c (SR2c) : Extended Protection
Sunrise 3 (SR3): Registered Entity Names (e.g. company names, etc.)

 
 
3) Who is eligible to register .ASIA domain name during Sunrise period?
Different requirements are required during each Sunrise phases and sub-phases, please refer to the summaries of the requirements and schedule as below.

General requirements/restrictions for application during sunrise are as below:

a) Applicant must meet the Charter Eligibility Requirement;
b) The applicant must be the owner, co-owner or assignee of a corresponding registered mark that is registered and in full force and effect;
c) The registered mark must be applied for on or before the corresponding cut-off dates for a particular sub-phase;
d) The registered mark must be registered in a trademark office or trademark registry that corresponds to one of the states or other entities set out in the WIPO Standard ST.3 code (http://www.wipo.int/scit/en/standards/pdf/03-03-01.pdf).
e) Domain name applied for must be complete match or acceptable match with the registered mark or entity name;
f) Acceptable match may allow for registered mark or entity name with:
- Spaces, punctuations and special characters (omitted or replaced by hyphen), eg. A B C D is acceptable match with A-B-C-D, ABCD and etc.;
- Accented and combined characters (replaced by base character), eg. Ö, è replace with o,e;
- Mark type or entity type identifiers, e.g. TM, LTD. (may be omitted), eg. ABCD Limited may apply ABCD.ASIA;
- Special consideration for "Asia" (may be omitted in favor of .Asia TLD), eg. ASIAN ABCD may apply for ABC.ASIA, during SR2a, this only apply to the exact term "Asia" appearing at the end of the registered mark;
- Transliteration, romanization or variant forms are not accepted
 
 
4) What is the documentary evidence needed for further verification during SR1 and SR2?
Registrant need to provide relevant documentary evidence upon request during SR1 and SR2 and submit the declarations/bibliographical data of the registrant as below along with the application:

- Registration Locality
The economy for which the public body corresponds to (ISO3166 2-character code).

A verification number supplied by the DotAsia Verification Agent for any application which has already been verified and approved; provided you have submitted the .asia domain application previously.
- Sunrise Phase SR1
SR2 - Registered Mark Exact word or phrase described by the Registered Mark as applied to the Domain Name Applied For, this field may optionally include a URL pointing to supporting documentation for SR2a (e.g. Company Ltd. [http://company.tld/trademark.pdf]
- Registration Number Registration or serial number of the Registered Mark's current registration. This number must enable the Verification Agent to access the correct registration entry in the trademark registry or trademark office;
- Registration Locality Location where the right is established (using the corresponding WIPO Standard ST.3 two-letter code);
- Application date Date the Registered Mark was applied (corresponding to the registration described by the Registration Number and Registration Locality);
- Registration Date Date on which the registration of Registered Mark becomes effective (this is not the priority date but the day for which the mark is issued and registered);
- Registered Class (optional for SR2a and SR2b) Class of the Registered Mark according to the 9th Edition of the Nice Classification System (http://www.wipo.int/classifications/nivilo
/nice/index.htm#)
. If more than one class has been registered with the domain, any one can be used. This is an OPTIONAL field for SR2a and SR2b. For SR2c however, the appropriate corresponding class must be declared;
- Nature of Entitlement Whether the Applicant (corresponding to the Registrant Contact) holds the trademark as the original "OWNER", "CO-OWNER" or "ASSIGNEE";
- Pre-Verification Number A verification number supplied by the DotAsia Verification Agent for any application which has already been verified and approved; provided you have submitted the .asia domain application previously.
- Sunrise Phase "SR2a" / "SR2b" / "SR2c".

 
 
5) What is the documentary evidence needed for further verification during SR3?
Applicant must supply at least one of the following documentary evidence and the document supply will be posted publicly:
i) The registration record relating to the Applicant entity at the relevant registry;
ii) Certificate of incorporation (and certificate for any subsequent change of names);
iii) Certificate of good standing from an official register, a competent public authority, or a notary public; or
iv) Other equivalent certified document indicating that the entity is duly formed and in good standing.

6) Does the first-come, first-served basis apply on the Sunrise Registration of .ASIA domain name?
The first-come, first-served basis only applies during SR1 and will be leaved on the SR2 and SR3 of .ASIA domain name. During the SR2 and SR3, all applications of domain names within the period specified will be considered to be received at the same time.

 
 
7) If there are multiple applications for a .ASIA domain name, who will be the winner?
If a domain name received more than one qualified application, an auction will be held between the two or more qualified applicants. Auctions will be mainly conducted online and with a high level of transparency for bidders. WHOIS information and information relating to the qualified applicant will be provided to all eligible applicants before commencement of the auction.

If a domain name received only one qualified application, the domain will be allocated to the applicant accordingly.

 
 
8) When does the Sunrise Registration period starts?
Sunrise 1 (SR1) and Sunrise (SR2a) will begin concurrently on October 9, 2007. SR2a application period will end on October 30, 2007. SR2b, SR2c and SR3 will commence on November 13, 2007, and close on January 15, 2008.
