There are no restrictions on who can register
.JP domain name, it can be register by any
individual or business in any country. Local
presence (postal address of the place of
residence) in Japan may apply for the domain
admin contact. We can provide you the local

What is the term of
registration?
The term of registration is 1 & 2 years.
However, due to the registry rules, if you
register a .JP domain for 2 years, the WHOIS
record will only show 1 year registration
term instead of 2 years. After your .JP
domain expired for the first year, then
only the WHOIS record will display the expiration
date for the second year. Therefore, partners
are advised to refer the domain expiration
date from the partner central.

How do I perform a
.JP domain registration?
Partners may register the domain name by
following the below steps:-
- Login to your Partner Central at http://www.webnic.cc;
- Under Registration Tools section;
- Click on Quick Start Registration;
- Under Registration, select extension that
you want to register;
- Enter your domain name and follow the
steps to register your domain name

Can I delete a domain
after registered?
No. Partner are not allowed to delete
.JP domain after registered.

What is the term of renewal?

The term of renewal
is 1 year. |

.JP domain can only
be renewed 1 time per year for a period
of 1 year. |

.JP domains are managed
on a calendar month cycle, which means
that all domain expiration dates will
occur only on the last day of the
calendar month in which it was registered
and the domain's renewal will occur
on the 1st of the following month. |

For example, if you
register a .JP domain on 15 January
2007, the expiration date for this
.JP domain will be on 30 January 2008
instead of 15 January 2008. |

What is the renewal grace period
for .JP domain name and how do I perform
a domain renewal?

The .JP domain renewal
is a manual process and it required
3 – 5 business days to complete.
We will notify partners on the renewal
status via email. |

must be submitted 10 days before the
domain expiration date. |

.JP domain will drop
into a 30 days Redemption Grace Period
which requires additional charges
to restore the domain if no renewal
submission was submitted 10 days before
the domain expiration date. |

- Login to your Partner Central at http://www.webnic.cc;
- Click on Quick Start Registration;

- Enter your domain name and follow the
steps to renew your domain name

Any Redemption Grace Period
(RGP) for .JP domain name?
Yes, a period of 30 days. To restore a .JP
domain, please email support@webnic.cc for more details and the restoration fee
will be charged accordingly.

How long does
it takes for a domain to release to public
registration after expired and not renew?
If partner did not renew a .JP domain
10 days before the domain expiration date,
the domain will drop into a 30 days Redemption
Grace Period. Then, the domain will be released
for public re-registration, please note that
domain re-registration is in first come first
served basis.

Can I initiate a registrar
transfer for .JP domain name and how do I
initiate the transfer?
Yes, partners are allowed to initiate a registrar
transfer for .JP domain name. Please note
that domain will not extend for 1 year after
completion.

Any charges on the domain transfer out?
Before subsequent renewal, domain want to
transfer out need to pay registrar release
fee equal that of one year renewal.

What problem(s) will delay or prevent the
Registrar transfer of domain?
Registrant will not be able to change Registrar
if their domain has expired.

Can I initiate a reseller
transfer for .JP domain name and how do I
initiate the transfer?
No, due to Reseller transfer function
for .JP has yet launch. We will notify partners
once this function is ready.

How do I manage my

Management function.
- Please note that changing the Registrant
information of .JP domain will be charged
accordingly.
